Summer Nights
Do you remember those bonfire nights at the banks of the river, where we lay under the willow tree and spent the night drinking and singing and dreaming and loving and hoping? Those were the nights when dreams and hopes became real. Did we ever think this wonderful time would end?
Toby and Joe
It was my elder brother who taught me, how to throw a stone, so it would jump on the water. “That’s the only thing one has to learn in life,” he said and I found out, he was right.
… and he taught me, how to play the guitar.
Thank You
Times are over
Sometimes ways get separated and you can’t remember where and why. Maybe you just wanted to try something new or it was your restlessness or unsteadiness or maybe you had to answer the call of duty. But then, there comes that faint desire becoming stronger bringing you back to where you belonged to.
When he comes
When I wrote this song, I thought it could be some kind of parable. I’d never thought that in times of IS things could come true. “To all my friends in France, Lebanon and Egypt and where ever you are now, I think of you!”
Trocadero
Dear Marianne,
we are in Paris now. Nicole rides with us in her sports car. Sun shines at River Seine and the warm wind blows Nicole’s hair. Someone got the idea to live to see sunrise at Trocadero, tomorrow we will be there.
Chameleon
There is also the other side of love. May be you was cheated or left alone and you don’t know why. So pain might change into anger and then changes into rage. Maybe you realise what was true about things. Maybe you haven’t seen before or you just didn’t want to.
Blue Days
There nothing but foolish making the same mistake again.
Dance
While we played our songs, some folks gathered round and when we had finished and wanted to leave the place, out of sudden they started to sing, “… J'ai pensé qu'il valait mieux nous quitter sans un adieu …”. It was touching and it felt, like having called some ghosts, good ones.
The Digger
Once upon a time in the west …
The Poet
Songs don’t change anything. But songs keep us remembering and they keep us hoping and may be they carry a vision, “… imagine all the people…” So let us pray and imagine that tomorrow will be the day … “We shall overcome …”.
Midnight on the Road
Give your country and your people reminiscence. They made you what you are. And don’t forget the one who’s waiting for you. So, if you can’t do things to the ones you love, do it to someone else, so it’s done well.
Juan-les-Pins
In the seventies several times I got the chance to meet the Grand Parade Du Jazz at Nice and at Juan-le-Pines (Jazz à Juan). I will never forget the music; I will never forget all those great artists. The mood still lingers there and the desire.
Gulf of Tonkin
It was George Stephen Morrison, who ordered the first shot on The Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964. In July 1971 his ship USS Bon Homme Richard was decommissioned. The following day his son Jim, the lead vocalist of The Doors died at the age of 27. At the end of 1971 John Lennon wrote those lines, “… war is over, if you want it …”.
The most beautiful Red
My daughter once told me, that she hates having red hair. All the other girls were prettier. So I told her, that to me red hair is the most prettiest of it all.
Get back on the Road
Running away is easy, but keeping up is it all worth
Riding on The Flying Scotsman
Yes, when this earth sinks, and when the last bell rings we’re still riding on The Flying Scotsman. So come on it’s the best we can do!
Fire Kites
If there would be no border between Palestine and Israel, if the people there could live like brothers and sisters and from everywhere in the world people could look at it and will understand, that it is the will of the people, I believe, from this day on there will be no war no more all around the world.
My Backdoor Shoes
Whoever has a garden, knows that you need a pair of shoes like that and whoever is lucky having grandchildren, knows that this is the greatest gift one can ever have.
Home is where the Heart is
… if you suddenly feel like this, than this song is for you.
Rotherham
Did you really understand why it happened or have you forgotten already? The children from Rotherham still suffer.
Twenty Carat Gold
This song is dedicated to all the women, who raised their children with a bulk of working and a bulk of sorrows. “…to serve, to strive and not to yield…”(OBT). I just want to say, “Thank You. You are not forgotten”.
Tom the Cat
You know Barry? He was a terrible tomcat, indeed he was but now than he passed away we all miss him so much.
